Nigel is a lifelong learner, self-starter, team player and networker. He is organised, committed, courageous, and delivers objectives well. He sees the big picture and is habitually creative. As a reflective practitioner committed to the constant interaction of action and reflection in praxis he is constantly curious and knows there is always much more to learn.
Nigel holds Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral degrees and worked in senior training and development positions in a Church of England Diocese for more than ten years. This experience alongside his doctoral research in adult theological education and the relationship between Christian faith and culture gave him important insights into how adults learn, change and grow. He has significant experience of leadership development through training courses and 1:1 learning relationships including engaging with ‘here and now’ experiential learning, systems thinking, group relations and unconscious processes. In 2018 he gained the Tavistock Institute’s “P3C Practitioner Certificate in Consulting and Change”. Nigel spends a significant amount of his time consulting with local churches and the systems that support them to create deep cultural change for the sake of their long-term future.
As well as being a consultant Nigel is also a spiritual director, facilitator, researcher, lecturer, journal editor and published author. His current research interests are liminality, contextual theology especially how faith and culture exist together in the North of England, the missional formation of Christian community in local churches and how cultural change in organisations happens.
